WHAT KIND OF MAINTENANCE DOES GLASS HEATER REQUIRE?

A series of glass heaters Termoconfort does not need complicated maintenance – it is required only to wipe it from dust and dirt when it is necessary. Cleaning of the irradiating plate should be performed carefully – in case of contamination its surface is gently rinsed with special solutions for glass or with regular alcohol.

DOES HEATER OPERATION DEPEND ON LONG PRESENCE IN A COLD ROOM?

Glass heaters Termoconfort are designed for operation at temperatures from +50 to -50̊C, they can also work at deliberate deviations from the given temperature range. These heaters will be serviceable in non-heated premises that will not effect their operation.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL GLASS HEATER TERMOCONFORT YOURSELF OR IT SHOULD BE OBLIGATORY DONE BY THE SPECIALIST?

Each heater is sold with a mounting kit which includes the necessary components for installation. The installation manual contains detailed instructions for all phases of work including the wiring diagram for the electrical network of the thermostatic switch. Any house owner experienced in operation of household devices and able to read technical documentation can perform the installation of a Termoconfort glass heater. If you are not confident or do not possess the necessary skills then it is better to call for a qualified specialist.

WHAT ARE THE GUARANTEES FOR THESE PRODUCTS?

All products manufactured by Termoconfort company have been tested in special laboratories and have certificates of compliance with the requirements for the product quality both in Russia and in the countries of the Customs Union (EEU) and in the European Union. We provide a 3-year warranty for Termoconfort glass heaters and 5 years for double-glazed windows and triplex with heating.

HOW TO SPECIFY HEATER POWER FOR A PARTICULAR ROOM?

Power of the heater is calculated on the basis of two parameters – the size of the room and the purpose of heating (main or additional). The general calculation is carried out as follows – 1 sq.m of the space requires 100 W of power if the heater is the main heating device and 50-60 W if auxiliary. It means the Termoconfort heater with a power of 1 kW is suitable for the main heating of the area of 10-11 sq.m or to maintain a comfortable temperature in spring and autumn in a room of 20-22 sq.m. With high-quality insulation the heater can maintain a temperature of +20̊C in the house even at outside temperature of minus 20̊C.

ARE THERE STIRCT RULES FOR HEATERS LOCATION?

Obligatory installation requirements for Termoconfort heaters are listed in the instructions for all models. Special attention should be paid to the height of the suspension. Too high placement of the heater will lead to insufficient heating of the room – the power of the device will not be enough to obtain the specified temperature. If the heater is located below the set level then its thermal radiation may cause discomfort to people nearby because of the high intensity. The best places to install the heater are the places of the maximum heat loss that as near window openings, balconies or entrance doors. If you need to heat a specific zone than device is installed above it. For heating of the large rooms it is advisable to use several heaters of the average power than one big power as they will uniformly heat the entire area.

ARE THERE SITUATIONS WHEN INSTALLATION OF THE INFRARED HEATERS THERMO GLASS IS IMPOSSIBLE?

There is one reason that can be an obstacle for installation of an infrared heater that is old wiring uncapable of providing sufficient electrical power. A similar problem often arises in summer houses and old apartments (with gas stoves) which have a single-phase network with a voltage of 220V and plugs of 16A each. The maximum load that such a network can withstand is 3-3.5 kW so simultaneous operation of the heater with other household devices can lead to overload and negative consequences. To eliminate this problem you need to upgrade the wiring – conduct another cable, install a separate automatic plug for 30-40 A, organize grounding and possibly replace the meter. If you have a three-phase network at home with voltage of 380 V and power of 15 kW then there are no obstacles for the installation of an infrared heater. You can use one, two, three or more devices both as the main source of heating and as an additional local heater.

HOW DOES THERMO GLASS TERMOCONFORT WORK? WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF GLASS HEATING?

The basis for the modern heated glass is tempered glass with high heat resistance. A microchip in the form of honeycombs is formed on the glass surface. Then a coating of metal oxides (tin, silver) is applied performing heating function. Via current-carrying wires installed on both sides of the glass 220V power is supplied. During designing of any product special formulas for calculating the power and heating of the surface per square meter are used. For glasses with different tasks and parameters individual current wires are created.

WHY IS IT SAID THAT HEATED GLASS WINDOWS HELP TO SAVE MONEY?

In the cold season most of the heat from an apartment or a house leaves through windows, doors and balconies. Glass structures cause more than 40% of the heat loss. Heated windows radically change the situation. After their adding to the grid the glass is heated up to the preset temperature and becomes a reliable barrier from penetration of the cold street air into the room. Due to electric windows other heating devices are not required and it saves money.

CAN YOU INSTALL HEATED WINDOWS BY YOURSELF? HOW DIFFICULT IS IT?

The process of installation of electrically heated windows is similar to the installation of conventional windows until the moment of connecting the power supply. Connect the heating windows to a household electrical mains with a voltage of 220V. House owners who know the specifics of the installation of modern structures and their installation requirements will be able to do the work themselves. It should be noted that self-installed windows are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. If the installation of heated windows is done by company specialists then they give a guarantee for the product for a period of 5 years.

WHAT IS THE ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR CONNECTION AND OPERATION OF HEATED WINDOWS?

Termoconfort heated windows are connected to ordinary household networks with a voltage of 220V. Transformer or other special equipment is not required for operation.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE OF COMPATITORS PRODUCTS FROM TERMOCONFORT GLASS?

In most analogues of Termoconfort heated glass conductive film or lead wires on the adhesive base are used as a heating element. Glasses with similar conductors have limited possibilities for heating and less operational life. Due to impossibility of structuring conventional heating elements it is necessary to use transformers and this makes analogues of Termoconfort heated glass much more expensive.

WHEN IS IT REQUIRED TO CONNECT THERMOSTATIC CONTROLLER TO THE WINDOW AND HOW GLASS HEATING IS ADJUSTED?

The connection of the thermostatic controller should be made at the final stage of the installation of a heated window.

There are two modes of glass heating adjustment:
• change of the heating intensity depending on the ambient temperature;
• change of the heating intensity depending on the temperature of the window glass.

HOW TO UNDERSTAND EXPRESSION “COLD WINDOW EFFECT”? IS IT POSSIBLE WITH TERMOCONFORT WINDOWS?

The effect of the cold window is a phenomenon when even in the warmest room the window remains cold and streams of the cold air enter the room creating a feeling of draft. The point here is the following: among all surfaces that limit the territory of the house (or apartment) glass has the highest thermal conductivity, so it is the worst heat preserver. The house is cooled to the maximum through the windows. When the heated room air comes into contact with cold glass it cools down, becomes heavier and goes down to the floor which creates a feeling of cool drafts even in a closed room. Windows with Termoconfort heated glass eliminate the appearance of the cold window effect completely. Even when operating at the lowest power (50 W per square meter) the glass is heated enough so that the air in the room does not cool down due to the contact with it.

HOW MUCH ENERGY DO TERMOCONFORT HEATED WINDOWS CONSUME?

Termoconfort Company produces double-glazed windows with electrical heating with a capacity from 50 to 500 or more W / m2. The amount of electricity consumed depends on the required glass temperature and the tasks to be perform. Heated windows used as the main source of the heat consume more energy than models designed for auxiliary or local heating. Even less electricity is consumed by glasses designed to prevent fogging and the formation of condensate on them. For example, at the room temperature of +20̊C the power consumption of Termoconfort windows will be as follows: • for condensate elimination – 50-150 W / sq.m. The glass surface will be heated up to + 22 … + 30̊C; • for removing of the icing of the outer surface of the glass – 400-500 W / sq.m. The glass surface will be heated up to + 45 … + 55̊C.

HOW DOES GLASS HEATING AFFECT WINDOW FRAMES AND SEALS? ARE PLASTIC AND RUBBER ELEMENTS DEFORMED?

Heating of the glass does not affect the window frame and its elements absolutely. The maximum glass heating temperature is limited by 50-55̊C, which excludes deformation of the plastic and rubber components of the window. In summer under the influence of the direct sunlight the temperature on the surface of the ordinary glass can reach 60-70̊C.

ARE TERMOСONFORT GLASSES SAFE? WHAT IS THE GUARANTEE FOR HEATED GLASS UNITS AND WHAT IS THEIR SERVICE LIFE?

Tempered glass is used in the heated double-glazed windows being many times stronger than ordinary glass, so there is no risk of the thermal shock. Even with the mechanical destruction of such glass it breaks into small blunt fragments so that one cannot be injured. With the destruction of the heated glass the electrical circuit breaks excluding electric shock.
The conductive layer is inside the glass which is completely sealed. Water ingress is not a problem for it and due to this its operation does not differ from the operation of a conventional glass unit. Warranty is 5 years. The service life is minimum 25 years.

CAN HEATED GLASS UNITS TERMOСONFORT BE USED IN THE STEAM BATH OR SAUNA?

Yes, it can be used. In such cases we use a silicone sealant (instead of a polysulfide one) and a special distance frame that can withstand higher temperatures when assembling glass units. This version requires separate approval.

AND DO TERMOСONFORT WINDOWS WARM UP OUTSIDE AIR OF THE STREET?

No, they do not. Due to a certain sequence of energy-saving glass coatings in a two-chamber glass unit all thermal energy is reflected back into the room. So the average low-emission glass acts as a mirror screen.

WHAT IS THE TRANSPARENCY OF THE HEATED GLASS UNITS? HOW DARKER ARE THEY?

The metallized conductive coating on the surface of the heated glass is absolutely transparent and does not obstruct the view at all. Visually this glass does not differ ordinary but it has slightly different color shade.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT POWER?

The required power is selected depending on the heating tasks. The main or additional heating is 250-400 W / sq.m. Creating a comfort zone – 150-250 W / sq. m. Elimination of condensate 80-150 W / sq. m. Anti-icing for roofing and glass roofs (allows you to get rid of ice and snow) – 300-700 W / sq. m.

WHAT IS SMART GLASS? WHAT IS ITS OPERATING PRINCIPLE?

This is a laminated glass with variable transparency function. The production principle is based on the placement of liquid crystal molecules between two conductive film layers using high temperature and high pressure treatment in a special furnace. When voltage is applied to the liquid crystals of the smart film the molecules “turn” perpendicular to the formed electric field which allows light to pass through the film and it becomes transparent. Without applying voltage to the smart film the molecules of the liquid crystal substance are arranged chaotically, they begin to scatter light, so the film becomes non-transparent with a frosted shade.

CAN SMART GLASS REPLACE CURTAINS?

If you are near the smart glass when it is turned off (matte) in a room with turned on light then only the silhouette will be visible. Light transmittance is maintained up to 80%.

WHAT IS THE CONSUMPTION OF SMART GLASS? WHAT IS THE COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE OF SMART FILMS? WHAT IS THE WARRANTY AND DURABILITY?

The smart film produced in Taiwan has consumption of 7 W / sq. m. Warranty is 2 years. The smart film produced in Italy (production on request) has consumption of 3 W / sq. m. Warranty is 5 years. The service life of the smart glass is minimum 10 years. One power supply unit (voltage transformer) can be connected up to 20 sq. m. of the smart glass. Power supply is 60 V, 50 Hz.

CAN A GLASS UNIT WITH SMART GLASS BE OF ROUND (OR OTHER) SHAPE?

Smart film can be cut into any shapes and forms: triangles, trapeziums, circles, with rounded edges, in a smart film you can make any cutouts for loops and other fasteners, and you can also stick a smart film on molded (bent) glass. Thanks to these properties smart glass helps to realize various design solutions.

WHY IS THE SMART GLASS A LITTLE HAZY WHEN THE (TRANSPARENT) STATE IS ON?

This is due to the multi-layered products. Molecules of liquid crystals are placed between two conductive film layers, then the conductive layers are closed with protective film layers. And after that the smart film is laminated onto the glass through a layer of EVA film. The better the smart film the less “smoky” and the higher the optical effect of the smart glass. This is especially noticeable when viewed from a corner, visibility through the smart glass becomes cloudier.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM WIDTH OF THE SMART GLASS UNITS? WHAT IS THE COLOR OF THE FILM?

The maximum width of a smart film is 1500 mm (on request). A film up to 1200 mm wide is always available. The color of the film is only white. Through the use of colored glass you can get other colors (green, blue, gray, bronze, etc.).

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE BUILT-IN BLINDS?

Simplicity and operating convenience, high reliability. Blinds do not get dusty, do not become dirty, do not need to be washed and cleaned. Do not get entangled, do not sag. Blinds do not rattle, do not cling to curtains or bobbin-net.

WHAT ARE THEIR APPLICATIONS IN ADDITION TO THE PRIVATE HOUSING FACADE GLAZING?

WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS ON THE DIMENSIONS OF THE GLASS UNITS WITH BUILT-IN BLINDS?

Minimum dimensions are width 400 mm, height 200 mm; maximum dimensions are width 1300 mm, height 2300 mm (depending on the area of ​​the glass unit). Glass unit area is not more than 3 sq.m. When selecting the thickness of the glass unit it should be noted that the thickness of the blinds section is 20 or 24 mm.

WHAT COLORS OF BLINDS ARE POSSIBLE?

Droppers of 16 mm width are made of aluminum alloy and painted. Among available colors are white, beige, gray, silver, gold. The color of the control unit is only gray.

WHERE CAN BLIND CONTROL MAGNETIC CLUTCH BE LOCATED?

The mechanism of lowering / rising and turning of the drops is driven by a modular circuit and can be mounted on the right or on the left side of the glass unit. Installation side of the clutch is indicated at the moment of order placing and cannot be rearranged afterwards!

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY AND SERVICE LIFE PERIOD?

Warranty is 5 years. Service life is not less than 10 years.
